Temporary Emergency Horse Shelter

Short-term emergency stabling for hurricanes, severe weather, and other temporary shelter needs in Delray Beach, Florida.

Hurricane season in South Florida can be stressful for horse owners, especially when a storm is approaching and safe shelter is needed quickly. Other emergencies, such as facility damage, flooding, fire, extended power loss, or unsafe barn conditions, may also create a need for temporary horse shelter.

AMP Stables & Boarding may have limited short-term stall availability for horse owners who need a safe temporary place for their horses during an emergency.

Because space is limited and emergency preparation takes time, advance arrangements are strongly encouraged.

Please note: AMP Stables & Boarding does not provide evacuation transportation. Owners are responsible for transporting their horses to and from our facility.

Important Notice

Temporary emergency stall availability is not guaranteed and is offered only when AMP Stables & Boarding has space available and can safely accommodate additional horses.

All requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis based on available stalls, horse needs, timing, weather conditions, emergency circumstances, and overall barn safety.

What We Offer

When available, short-term hurricane stabling may include:

  • Temporary stall housing during storm preparation and recovery

  • Fresh water

  • Hay and feed administration according to owner instructions

  • Basic stall care

  • Owner-provided supplements and medications administered per written instructions

  • A monitored barn environment with staff oversight as conditions allow

Owners are responsible for providing feed, supplements, medications, halters, lead ropes, and any special care instructions unless other arrangements are made in advance.

Requirements

To be considered for hurricane stall availability, horse owners must provide:

  • Current negative Coggins

  • Emergency contact information

  • Veterinary contact information

  • Hay, feed, supplements, medications

  • Feed and care instructions

  • Signed AMP Stables & Boarding waiver and emergency care authorization

  • Payment before or upon arrival, unless otherwise arranged

Additional documentation may be required depending on the horse’s needs and the circumstances of the storm.

Owner Responsibilities

Horse owners remain responsible for their horse’s health, behavior, feed, medications, veterinary expenses, farrier expenses, and any emergency care costs.

Owners should bring enough feed, hay if applicable, supplements, medications, and supplies for the expected stay, plus extra in case conditions delay pickup.

AMP Stables & Boarding will make reasonable efforts to care for horses safely during an emergency, but owners understand that hurricanes, severe weather, and other emergency situations carry inherent risks.

Timing & Availability

Please do not wait until the last minute to inquire.

As a storm approaches or another emergency situation develops, availability may become very limited. Barn preparation, staff safety, road conditions, and weather timelines may affect whether horses can be accepted.

Horses must arrive during an approved drop-off window. For safety reasons, AMP Stables & Boarding may stop accepting arrivals once weather, road, facility, or other emergency conditions begin to deteriorate.

Pricing

Temporary emergency stabling pricing may vary depending on the length of stay, and level of care required.
