Youth Program Rules & Policies

These rules and policies apply to all AMP Stables & Boarding youth programs, including Equitation Club, Summer Equitation Club, School Break Equitation Club, Horsemanship Days, Special Event Days, youth group programs, and other youth activities offered by AMP Stables.

They are designed to help us keep programs safe, organized, respectful, and enjoyable for students, families, horses, and staff.

These policies are in addition to AMP Stables’ required annual waiver, emergency contact/medical information form, and any program-specific policies, requirements, schedules, payment terms, cancellation timelines, or instructions provided for a particular program.

Program-specific information may be listed on program webpages, registration forms, flyers, advertisements, social media posts, emails, texts, or other AMP Stables communications. When a program has additional or more specific requirements, those requirements apply to that program.

Registration & Attendance

All students must be registered before attending any AMP Stables youth program. Registration allows AMP Stables to plan horses, staffing, riding groups, activities, and safety needs appropriately.

Families who attend regularly are still responsible for making sure their child is registered for the correct program dates.

Attendance is not guaranteed without completed registration and required payment, deposit, or approved Step Up for Students allocation, when applicable.

Unpaid, incomplete, or unconfirmed registrations may be released to another family.

Required Waivers & Forms

Each student must have current required forms on file before participating in any AMP Stables youth program, including AMP Stables’ annual waiver and emergency contact/medical information form.

Parents/guardians are responsible for keeping emergency contacts, medical information, allergies, restrictions, authorized pick-up information, media preferences, and other important details current.

Students may not participate until all required forms are complete.

Payment, Reservations & Step Up for Students

Space is limited. A student’s spot is not reserved until payment, deposit, or approved Step Up for Students allocation has been received, when applicable.

AMP Stables & Boarding is a Step Up for Students Marketplace Provider for eligible programs. Families using Step Up are responsible for allocating funds for the correct program, date, and amount.

Step Up allocations do not replace AMP Stables registration forms. Students must still be registered for specific dates so we can plan horses, staffing, and activities.

Unpaid, incomplete, or unconfirmed registrations may be released to another family.

Tuition, Credits, Cancellations & Deposits

Tuition is non-refundable due to limited availability and advance scheduling.

A credit toward a future program date may be offered, at the sole discretion of AMP Stables & Boarding, when written notice of cancellation is provided by email or text within the cancellation timeline required for that specific program.

Cancellation timelines vary by program and will be listed on the applicable program page, registration form, or program communication.

Cancellations made after the required cancellation deadline and no-shows are not eligible for credit.

Some programs may require a reservation deposit. Deposit terms will be listed on the applicable program page or registration form.

Reservation deposits may be forfeited for late cancellations or no-shows, according to the terms of the specific program.

Program Hours, Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Program hours vary by program and are listed on the applicable program page, registration form, or program communication.

Students should be dropped off and picked up on time. Parents/guardians must notify AMP Stables if a student will be late, absent, or picked up early.

Students may only be released to a parent/guardian or authorized adult listed on their form unless prior written permission is provided.

Late pick-up may result in additional fees when after-care or extended care is available.

What to Wear & Bring

Students should come prepared to be active, outdoors, dirty, and around horses.

Required or recommended attire and personal items may include:

  • Closed-toe shoes required at all times

  • Long pants required for riding days

  • Weather-appropriate clothing

  • Sunscreen and bug spray

  • Refillable water bottle

  • Towel and change of clothes when applicable

  • ASTM/SEI-certified riding helmet for mounted activities

Students may not be able to participate in certain horse or riding activities if they are not dressed safely.

AMP Stables is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen personal items. Students should avoid bringing unnecessary valuables to the barn.

Food, Snacks & Hydration

Students should bring a refillable water bottle to every program and are encouraged to drink water throughout the program day.

For extended-day programs, students should also bring lunch and snacks unless otherwise stated in the program details.

Please be mindful of other children’s allergies and dietary restrictions. Any food, snacks, treats, or birthday items brought to share with the group must be approved by AMP Stables in advance.

Weather & Riding Policy

Programs meet rain or shine unless AMP Stables notifies families otherwise.

Riding is subject to weather, footing, horse condition, horse availability, student readiness, group size, and overall safety.

Riding opportunities may be modified or canceled at AMP Stables’ discretion and are not guaranteed every program day.

If riding is not possible, students will participate in horsemanship, horse care, groundwork, barn management, crafts, games, or other educational activities.

Horse Assignments & Horse Handling

Horse assignments are made by AMP Stables based on safety, horse suitability, student experience, horse health, and program needs.

Students may not choose, switch, feed, handle, tack, untack, lead, ride, enter stalls, enter paddocks, or interact with horses without staff permission and supervision.

Horse activities may be modified based on student readiness, horse behavior, horse health, weather, staffing, and overall safety.

Barn Safety Rules

Students must follow staff and counselor instructions, barn rules, and safety expectations at all times.

Basic safety expectations include:

  • No running, yelling, or roughhousing in the barn

  • No entering stalls, paddocks, tack rooms, feed areas, arenas, or other restricted areas without permission

  • No feeding horses without staff approval

  • No handling horses without staff supervision

  • Helmets must be worn when required

  • Students must treat horses, staff, counselors, volunteers, other students, guests, and property with respect

Failure to follow safety instructions may result in removal from activities or dismissal from the program.

Student Behavior & Respect

AMP Stables is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment.

Students are expected to:

  • Listen to staff and counselors

  • Be kind and respectful to others

  • Treat horses gently and responsibly

  • Use appropriate language

  • Participate safely and cooperatively

  • Respect barn property and equipment

Bullying, teasing, unsafe behavior, intentional disobedience, inappropriate language, disrespect toward staff, mistreatment of animals, or behavior that disrupts the group may result in removal from activities or dismissal from the program without refund or credit.

AMP Stables reserves the right to determine whether a student’s behavior can be safely managed within the program.

Illness & Ability to Participate

Students should not attend if they are sick, contagious, feverish, vomiting, or unable to safely participate in barn activities.

If a student becomes ill, injured, overheated, or unable to participate safely during the program, a parent/guardian may be contacted for early pick-up.

Students must be able to follow staff instructions and participate safely in a group setting.

Parent/Guardian Communication

Parents/guardians are responsible for keeping contact information, emergency contacts, medical information, and authorized pick-up information current.

Parents/guardians should notify AMP Stables if a student will be absent, late, or picked up early.

Program updates may be sent by text, email, website updates, registration forms, or other communication methods used by AMP Stables.

Parents/guardians are responsible for reviewing program details and communications so they are aware of schedules, requirements, policies, and any program-specific instructions.

Supervision & Facility Boundaries

Students must remain in designated program areas and may not leave the group, barn area, arena, or assigned activity area without staff permission.

Students must check in with staff before going to the restroom, leaving an activity, or meeting a parent/guardian.

Parents/guardians should notify AMP Stables in advance if a student has any supervision, emotional, behavioral, or medical needs that may affect safe participation.

Program Changes

AMP Stables & Boarding reserves the right to modify activities, schedules, horses, riding plans, instructors, counselors, program structure, or policies as needed for safety, weather, staffing, horse care, or operational needs.
