Since 2012, AMP Stables’ Equitation Club has given kids and teens the opportunity to connect with horses, build practical skills, and spend meaningful time outdoors in a fun, welcoming environment.
Whether your child is brand new to horses or already lives in boots and breeches, Equitation Club offers the perfect blend of riding instruction, horsemanship education, and real-life barn experience.

What We Do Each Week
Equitation Club is much more than a riding lesson. Each session is designed to include both hands-on time with the horses and educational enrichment through themed, age-appropriate activities.
Hands-on Horse Barn Experiences:
Students actively participate in real barn activities such as:
Grooming, feeding
Tacking and untacking
Cleaning stalls & paddocks
Basic barn management
Riding (weather-permitting)
Safety and care routines
Educational Fun and Games
Educational Topics:
Equitation Club incorporates educational enrichment across a variety of subjects, including:
Science: Horse health, biology, and barn-side horticulture
Math: Horse height & weight, budgeting for ownership
History: Breed origins and traditions
Physical Education: Riding technique & rider fitness
Social Studies: Herd dynamics and equine communication
Literature: Horses in film and storytelling
Art: Drawing and painting equine subjects
Equine First Aid: Basic care and emergency response
Throughout the year, we also welcome guest speakers like veterinarians, farriers, and other equine professionals to enrich the learning experience.
Weather & Safety Notes:
Equitation Club meets year-round, rain or shine, unless AMP Stables notifies families otherwise.
Riding opportunities are subject to weather, footing, horse condition, horse availability, student readiness, group size, and overall safety.
Riding opportunities may be modified or canceled at AMP Stables’ discretion and are not guaranteed every program day.
If riding is not possible, students will participate in horsemanship, horse care, groundwork, barn management, crafts, games, or other educational activities.
In cases of severe weather, including hurricanes or lightning storms, parents/guardians will be notified as soon as possible.
What to Bring:
Students should come prepared to be active, outdoors, dirty, and around horses.
Required or recommended items include:
-
Closed-toe shoes required at all times
-
Long pants required for riding days
-
Weather-appropriate clothing
-
Refillable water bottle required for every program day
-
Sunscreen and bug spray
-
ASTM/SEI-certified riding helmet for mounted activities; helmets are available to borrow if needed
Horse treats may only be brought or given with staff approval.
Students may not be able to participate in certain horse or riding activities if they are not dressed safely.
The Real Value
Beyond learning how to ride and care for horses, our students develop confidence, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and leadership qualities that carry into every area of their lives.
Working with horses teaches patience, empathy, and responsibility. For many kids, it becomes a transformative experience that builds both emotional strength and self-assurance.
But perhaps one of the most special parts of Equitation Club is the friendships that grow along the way. Through shared experiences in the barn, students form genuine connections both with the horses and with each other. Whether they are learning to groom, cheering each other on during rides, or laughing together during water breaks, these relationships often grow into lifelong friendships rooted in trust, teamwork, and a shared love for animals.
