Hi, I'm Leiah! My registered (aka fancy) name is Comadreja, which loosely translates to "groundhog." I earned that name because I've always loved lying down for a good nap. Honestly... I think it suits me perfectly, even if the translation is a little rough. Before retiring to my forever home at AMP Stables & Boarding, I spent my years as a polo pony.
 

These days, I proudly serve as AMP's Director of Barn Communications. If there's something happening around the barn, chances are I already know about it. I love keeping up with all the horses, greeting visitors, and making sure nobody feels left out. Some horses prefer a little peace and quiet... I prefer good company and a great conversation.
 

At 15 years old and 15.2 hands tall, I have a gentle heart and have never met a stranger. Whether you have two legs or four, I'm always happy to make a new friend. There's something special about simply being present, and I love helping both horses and people feel welcome, connected, and right at home.

When I'm not busy making my rounds, you'll usually find me enjoying the finer things in life. I'm a bit of a gourmet and firmly believe hay tastes better after it's been transformed into my signature "hay soup." I'm also a big fan of luxurious nap time, spectacular rolls in the dirt, and soaking up the Florida sunshine.

One of my favorite parts of life at AMP is sharing a paddock with my sister from another mister, Holly. Rumor has it that Holly and I may have been born in neighboring cities in Argentina. Whether it's true or just a really good barn story, we like to think we were meant to find each other again.

Every horse hopes to find that one special person. I was lucky enough to find mine. Mom calls me her heart horse, and every day I try my best to live up to the title. We understand each other without needing words, and I treasure every quiet moment we share. I chose her just as much as she chose me.
 

Retirement has been pretty wonderful. I am not racing down a polo field anymore, and I've found an even better purpose: making friends, sharing kindness, making sure everyone at AMP always feels like part of the herd, and proving every day that I chose the right human and barn family.

Leiah is privately owned but generously shares her time with the students in our educational programs.
